As expected with both teams taking a step up a division each game played so far has been a challenge, but with the Haverhill spirit we have given our opponents a good run for their money.

It is hoped that some of the defeats can be turned around into wins on the return fixtures for both teams, gaining vital points to ensure places in the leagues for the following season.

29th September 2012 - Royston 4  - Haverhill (1sts) 0

Hopes were high of picking up points on their trip to fellow newly promoted outfit Royston, and the women held their own for much of the game despite Helen Coe being forced off through injury in the first ten minutes.

Haverhill held the hosts at bay and the score was 0-0 with 20 minutes remaining, despite them being restricted to just one short corner.

However, they crumbled in the final quarter of the game as Royston’s pressure saw them fire home four times for a comprehensive victory.

Things get no easier for Haverhill in their first home game on Saturday (October 6), as they host runaway league leaders St Albans who crushed a Blueharts team who had won their first two without conceding a goal 11-0 last Saturday (September 29).
